Q: Do you participate in other sports or activities?
A: I played water polo and run a club called PAW club which raises money for the MILO Foundation, a local animal shelter
Q: Do you have plans for life after high school?
A: I want to go to college and hopefully keep swimming for the rest of my life
Q: How long have you been a coach at OPP?
A: I started coaching at 14, so this is my third year coaching
Q: What are your primary coaching duties?
A: Coaching the 10&unders in practices and meets
Q: We know that a heavy lift you have each week is to help our younger Stingrays get into the right spots and get prepared for swims during meets. Anything parents can do to help you and your fellow coaches with this process?
A: Being on time to the meeting spot for your races takes a lot of stress off the parents, kids and the coaches
Q: Do you teach swim lessons this year?
A: I teach the "learn to swim" lessons and I help with mini singers lessons sometimes
Q: What are some of your favorite things that you get to see in lessons and practices?
A: I love when a kid I’m coaching finally gets a skill down--like side breathing or going in the deep end
Q: Do you have any advice for kids that are considering being a coach in future years?
A: Do it! It has been the best way to spend my summer every year. Also be super nice to all the kids cause they look up to you and be loud during practices because it’s hard to hear in the lanes.
Q: What are some of the things that you're looking forward to in the next few months?
A: Being at OPP! And going to Costa Rica at the end of July
Q: Do you have any unique skills or atypical interests that you'd be willing to share with us?
A: I like baking and cooking and if you didn’t already know I love swimming!
Q: Do you want to say hi to any family members or friends that might be reading this?
A: Hi to my amazing sisters Amara and Zia
